Curious corvid and wings of blackened ash.
Perch, and ponder this creaking and cracking old wood.
Peck at this firm and brittle door.
See if it will open, and if so,
what more is there to behold?
Withering floorboards and mold in the walls.
Floaty cobwebs, perhaps dust set aloft.
Through the shadows and into the faintest light.
Are there curtains spun of rarest stardust,
and if so, who is the architect, whom is the design?
Does one dive deeper or simply leave it all behind?
Beyond the silky satin and into the unknown.
Feathers rap against a house found within an ancient home.
The map points to everywhere but everywhere is here.
A home within a house, beyond a golden curtain and a door.
Curiosity caws to the corvid, echoes from nevermore.
Perch, and ponder this wilting and withering lumber.
What mysteries lay further in?
Powdered shelves with aging books.
Faded photos, perhaps critters scurry into secret nooks.
I imagine there is a window, crystalline but smeared.
It peers into the sobering eyes of a curious blackbird.
Tapping at the door of a house within a home,
behind a curtain and another door.
But what more is there to behold, what more could there be?
I see, quoth this raven “it is the God in me.”
Wade F. Wilson is an accomplished actor hailing from the rolling hills of Northern California. He has appeared in various productions, including Spike Lee’s Chi-Raq and the video game NBA 2K16. Wilson’s recent work includes a starring role as Michael in the popular Netflix series Dear White People and more.
Although acting remains his primary passion, Wilson also considers himself a storyteller at heart. He channels this passion through his poetry, which he describes as an integral part of his creative identity. Wilson’s first self-published work, If Oprah Could Hear My Words, is a collection of his poems that chronicles his personal growth from childhood to adulthood. His second publication, Yuka and the Universe is a children’s book that uses poetry to explain the mysteries of the cosmos.
Despite his success in the performing arts, Wilson is eager to explore new experiences and opportunities as a writer. He hopes to continue sharing his unique voice and perspective with audiences around the world.
