Fana Babadayo

Fana Babadayo’s art was influenced initially by her interest in doll making, which evolved into representations of the figurative form using mixed media. Currently her preferred medium of expression is assemblage. The recurring themes depicted in her work reference ceremonial rituals, African traditions, and folk art of the American South. The impetus behind her work begins with what she considers the beauty of antiquity, using old, rusty relics of the past to transform ordinary objects into visual poetry and tell stories without words.
